Circle of Consciousness is a monthly gathering hosted by the Central Florida Psychedelic Society and Center Street. These education-centered evenings are created to explore a specific state of consciousness through the lens of healing, compassion, curiosity, and self-discovery. Each gathering may take the form of a guided discussion, a film screening, or a hands-on experiential practice designed to help participants deepen their understanding of the topic.
Every Circle of Consciousness gathering focuses on a unique expanded state of consciousness and the role it can play in integration and personal growth. Topics may include psychedelic medicine, dreamwork, liminal states, meditation, and other practices or experiences that expand awareness. The intention is to create a welcoming space where people can learn, reflect, and connect around meaningful approaches to consciousness and healing.
Circle of Consciousness is also an invitation to come together in community and learn from each other. Whether you are new to these topics or have long been engaged in them, the gathering offers an opportunity to meet like-minded people and share perspectives in thoughtful inquiry.
All are welcome to join, connect, and learn with your local consciousness community.
This months gathering features a conversation led by Scott Ostuni centered around Mushrooms.
Scott Ostuni, an amateur mycologist from Florida, will discuss how his early psychedelic experiences took him down a path towards studying fungal taxonomy in the Southeastern United States.
Scott has co-published several papers on novel species he and other amateur mycologists have found while roaming around their local habitats. He is on the NAMA DNA Sequencing Committee and a member of Entheogen Genome Project. Scott discovered a new Florida mushroom species called Psilocybe niveotropicalis, as well as increasing understanding of the distribution of various species of fungi in the state of Florida. Scott is deeply enthusiastic about enlisting budding mycologists to contribute to mapping the biodiversity of fungi in Florida through INaturalist. Scott Ostuni is the President of Florida Mycological Society and is a Sequence Validator for the Fungal Diversity Survey (FUNDIS).
